Welcome to the SCAAweb, the website of St.Columbs Allotment Association (S.C.A.A.). St.Columbs Allotment Association represents the interests of the allotment holders at Allotment Gardens, St.Columbs Park in the city of Londonderry (or Derry) in Northern Ireland. This website (SCAAweb) is designed to provide all online visitors with information about both the Allotments and the Association at Allotment Gardens, St.Columbs Park.

The SCAAweb is simple to explore. As well as this Home Page there are four other sections that can be accessed by clicking on the navigation buttons at the top of all pages within the SCAAweb. Each navigation button title will indicate the details of that section. The navigation button of the section you are currently viewing will always be in blue font, the other titles will remain in green font. When the mouse pointer is hovered over any of the navigation buttons a screen tip will display information about that section of the SCAAweb.

22Mar09 SCAAshop: With the allotment season just beginning members are reminded that some garden products are to purchase though the Association's trading arm SCAAshop. No compost is available yet but this should be resolved soon. For more details of available products and prices see SCAAshop area in the Members Section.

21Mar09 COMPOST DEBACLE: The Association would like to apologise to members for the delay in supplying bags of compost this year. This is entirely due to Bulrush Horticulture Ltd in Magherafelt inability to provide us with compost because they are "too busy" even though a week ago they said there was no problem with supply. For more details about this shameful episode and a copy of the Association's letter of complaint visit the Members Section of the SCAAweb.

19Mar09 BARBEQUE: The Association will be holding its Start of Season Barbeque on Saturday 4th April 2009 for more details please visit the Members Section of the SCAAweb, see notices on site or contact the Secretary.

18Mar09 LICENCE FEES: Members will shortly be receiving letters informing them of their 2009/2010 licence fee and details of when it should be paid for more details please visit the Members Section of the SCAAweb or contact the Secretary.

As with any outdoor activity the weather plays a major role, in fact with allotment gardening plays a critical role. So knowing the weather is a vital and knowing the local weather rather than a vague regional or national forecast is essential. There are many sites providing many forecasts we have listed two links below to weather web sites whose local forecasts we have found to be the most reliable on the web. To open forecast in a new window click the images on the left.

A local forecast provided by the BBC Weather Centre, it gives summary of the weather expected over the next five days giving details of cloud, temperature, visibility, pressure, humidity, sun index, pollution and sunrise/set.

A 15 day local forecast provided by AccuWeather, it gives a brief description of the weather expected over the next fifteen days, as well as more detailed daily day/night or hourly forecasts detailing temperature, wind, pressure, etc.

The Association always welcomes enquires from those visiting the SCAAweb. If you would like further information about the the Association or wish to make any comments or suggestions about the SCAAweb please contact us via email by clicking here.
